Alliance for Regulatory Coordination Summary of Member Meeting Meeting Date: January 15, 2013 Location: Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin The meeting was convened at 9:05 a.m. by Bob DuPont, of Regulatory Guidance and Design, LLC. Attendees introduced themselves and identified the organization they were representing. DuPont asked if anyone had questions or comments on the suggested update to the ARC Commitments. Discussion turned to communications with former ARC member organizations. There was general agreement that DuPont should send former ARC members an email and link to the ARC web site after meeting summaries are posted. In response to a question about the status of the Wisconsin Building Safety Network, and whether mention of the WBSN should remain in the ARC commitments. DuPont said he thought mention of the WBSN is important because it draws attention to the fact that there are many fire departments and municipal officials who administer building-related safety codes throughout Wisconsin. He said the name was developed to emphasis to legislators, local elected officials and the public in general that the state has, for over 100 years, worked in concert with hundreds of local officials to accomplish the task of implementing the numerous state laws and safety codes under its charge. Attendees agreed that the updated commitments proposed by DuPont were acceptable. DuPont said he would update the ARC web site with the commitments as agreed to at the meeting. He also suggested that reference to program teams be removed from the ARC web site – to no objection. After considerable discussion, attendees agreed that the Alliance should introduce itself to the legislature; taking the following three steps to do so.
Consensus was for DuPont to develop proposed briefing materials and send them to ARC members for comment. The materials would describe ARC and would contain concrete examples of ARC ideas; including those that have been implemented by the Walker Administration. The materials would communicate that:
After ARC members agree on the materials, DuPont would meet with legislative leaders as the Alliance representative. He would then send the introductory email to all legislators and arrange for the briefing session for interested legislators. The next meeting of Alliance Members was not addressed. The meeting was adjourned at 11:15 a.m. Note: Subsequent to the member meeting, attendees at the ARC Fire Safety Team meeting agreed that the next member meeting and next Fire Safety Team meeting should be held on March 5, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., respectively.
